3.) Slavery And Its Misrepresentation of African Culture

The practice of slavery is just plain unacceptable in itself. Slaves were brutally beaten down to their flesh with lifetime scars and burns that were eternally permanent. Africans were kidnapped due to the racial discrimination occurring, and the torture and suffering Africans faced can wound someones spirit eternally. Selling an individual for profit and taking their dignity away does not condone the slave owners blasphemous actions.

Respect was ridiculously lacked towards the African culture. Whites walked around as if they ruled the world. It was as if Africans were just placed on earth to be workers and have no "say-so". It got to the point that if an African knew too much or had too much knowledge then they would be punished for that. "Respect commands itself and it can neither be given nor withheld when it is due".

Through marching barefoot over mountains, overcoming diseases and sickness, and bruises all over their bodies is what slave owners allowed. Being treated badly gave some slaves the courage to run away just to have a better life. Slaves who rebelled were killed and those who fell sick were left to die. It was either you're strong or you're not.

I've always wondered why slaves were treated so low. The labor of enslaved Africans fueled almost the entire sugar industry. If it wasn't for Africans and the hard labor they did, we would not have a lot of things that we have today. Slavery brings out the irreverence in individuals.

Slavery in my eyes has nothing positive to it. African slaves lost many loved ones, close friends, family, cousins, brothers, sisters, etc. The whites were "money hungry" so they turned to slaves for profit. If slave owners were really all about "good citizenship" then it wouldn't have been a problem for them to go about slavery a different way. The ignorance displayed through whites has scarred African Americans eternally.

Slaves were beaten down and bascially it was like the whites didnt really care about it one bit. I agree with you when you say that the way that these people were treated was totally disrespecful. The actions that these people chose will never be forgotten by any African American person ever. The times of slavery was just basically a horrible time for ever one who was involved with it.Now African Americans are treated with the respect they deserve.

I truely agree that slavery was unacceptable. I think that slavery was uncalled for and brutally. I dont think its right to beat on someone just because you want to, or because the color of their skin, or just because they didnt do what they were told. But really if the shoes were on the other foot for the white i dont think they would like it either. It just depressing or sad to hear and see how us blacks were treat in the earlier years. And until this day it still makes us African Americans sad and mad at the same time when you think about slavery.

Slavery has to be one of the most grave injustices ever inflicted upon mankind, imho. It's effects are everlasting as we currently bear witness. And it's mental damage - irreversible. I hate it.

Look at the scars on his back. So sad and tragic.
